happy new year!
before we get started, I want you to know this isn’t a negative nelly post. This is my realist view on the new year… I love the freshness of a new year, but there is also a familiarity and maybe that’s just because I’m a *householder* (a practitioner of yoga, but leading a family life, not one of solitude) that I see the magic of the change while also seeing that some one has to do the dishes! Sure, there are many changes besides the date, there is a freshness that comes with new calendars and new dreams, but part of the reason so many *falter* with resolutions is that honestly, so much still is the same. Laundry still needs to be washed, the dogs need to be walked, bills to be paid, etc. these things make up our lives friends. And it is NOT a bad thing!
being an adult and having responsibilities is wonderful, I’m thankful to have clothes to wash, lights on overhead, and dogs who give sweet kisses on my (and the Bug’s) nose. So yes, I’m thankful for this page turned, this new calendar, and this new year, they all give me a chance to rekindle hobbies I love, recommit to my practice, and frankly get the kiddo back in school, but I also see that I have to keep in mind that life still is lived as it was on December 30 or 31 as it is currently being loved here on January 5. Dishes need to be washed, dogs need to be walked, and my heart is refreshed and rekindled with magic of the new year!
this is my Satya, my truth.
