coming hOMe

You can never go home again, but the truth is you can never leave home, so it’s all right.- Maya Angelou

I talk about it a lot. This word: home.

home. sometimes it is four walls, sometimes it is a person. it is always ourselves. we are always home to ourselves. these bodies we live in, wake up every day in, go to sleep every night, breathe, love, hurt, these vessels are our homes.

our bodies are not just something to be *tamed*, conditioned, or fought against, we are on the same team. take a moment. sit still. feel the weight of your body, not it’s heaviness, but what all of you {waves hands all over body, if you’ve ever been in class with me you know this looks like a little dance move} feels like. what does it feel like to be you. come home. feel the breath, the joints, the skin, the space, the tightness. right now, what does it feel like?

this is how yoga should always feel. like space, like discomfort. sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. can you come home today? treating your body like the temple, like the safe haven it is?

welcome home,
