Samadhi report, give thanks!

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

img_9986every morning i wake + every night i before i sleep, may my words be “thank you”

i don’t particularly like thanksgiving. to me it feels like a false holiday, like we are celebrating a movie instead of an actual event. it doesn’t feel authentic to me.

maybe it’s the current state of our country, as native tribes fight for our right for clean water while the other side fights for the right to make money. it seems wrong, why are we still treating the natives tribes this way? why aren’t we listening?

the only part of the holiday i like it the “thanks”. gratitude is so important and every day i am trying to live it, breathe it, show my thanks to the boys so that they may carry the thanks too. here is my gratitude “prayer”:

thank you.

i’m thankful for the home i live in and the people i so joyfully get to call family

i give gratitude for the food on my table, clean water to sip, and the clothes on our backs

i am thankful for our health, happiness, and the community we get to be a part of.

i give gratitude to those who fight for our freedoms, both abroad and at home.

i am grateful for this beautiful planet, the oceans, the mountains, the trees. i will fight for you.

i am thankful for this life, the freedom of my words, and i’m thankful for you!

may you have a happy and safe holiday. i hope whatever you are grateful for that you take the time to shout it out loud. life is precious and gratitude is the greatest gift!

  1. Yes, feeling so much of this right now. Struggling to “celebrate” a holiday based on colonialism and exploitation of our native people, especially given the recent events of this country and horrors coming from Standing Rock. But at the same time, never tiring of the practice of gratitude and feeling deeply grateful for so much. Hope you have a happy holiday with your family! xo
